“Kate Twa's CANDYLAND is a high-octane trip to an often travelled, but seldom really seen world that marks the debut of an impressive new directorial voice.  It tells the story of what happens when kids from the 'right side' of the tracks stray into a crystal-meth induced rabbit hole that puts them on a very dangerous path.  Many directors have explored this subject matter, but few manage to capture it with quite the authenticity that Twa coaxes from her performers.  She leads her primarily non-professional cast to some very dark places and back again, without losing the characters' inherent naivety, youthful energy or enthusiasm.  Candyland is a fast-paced, morally grounded movie that's never moralistic, that shows us the flip side of normal without being didactic or heavy-handed about it.  No small accomplishment for a first feature.  Kudos ! “

This film effected me to the core and was an intense, emotional ride unlike any other film I have seen. Who needs flashy special effects; Hollywood budgets; storylines involving Vampires?  Here you have the bravest of Directors and the bravest of actors, the majority of whom are embracing their first major lead role, who tackle material that is raw and uncensored, with such intense honesty.  The film forces the audience to face social realities that although difficult to watch cannot be ignored.
